So, I woke up today and had no clue that I would become one of those people... a blogger! However, I did wake up on a mission. I wanted to figure out what to do when you are a housewife with a clean house a prepared menu for the next two weeks and all of the laundry is done (for once in my life) with no money.
The first thing that I did was Google "bored broke housewife". There were a good amount of hits with this search, I started to get excited... FINALLY SOMETHING TO DO!!!!! I looked directly to the first article that came up on breaking the "Housewife Syndrome"... AH HA this ought to be a good start! Yeah freakin right! This article was jam packed with advise for the rich and famous! The author yapped on and on about how one should go on vacations, plan lunches with friends, throw parties and redecorate our homes while giving gratitude to our husbands. Ummm, yeah... NO!
After four more articles that mirrored the first article, I became frustrated and started pondering the fact that the people who can afford the above luxuries have GOT to be the minority... right? Seriously, we live in a two income dependant society. When a parent (or not... a housewife or househubby doesn't necessarily have to have children) makes the decision to forgo their careers for the betterment of their family and household there are going to have to be sacrifices. The primary sacrifice is a financial matter and then most of the sacrifices beyond that are due to the financial sacrifice.
That is when my epiphany hit me... why don't I figure it out! I am creative... sorta! I have done a few projects around the house, cooked, planned parties and clothed a family of four at a very minimal cost. I have an MBA, I am an active person who loves my family and would not change my situation for any thing. So, I figure why not blog about my adventures here in the wild jungle that I call "home" and share what I do so no one else has to be subjected to those inhumane articles that I was forced to read.
With all of that said, I am going to do my best to blog about the various low-cost recipes, home decorating, children's activities, gifts and other "things" that I do to relieve some of my boredom.
Now, I am off to bake chocolate chip cookies. I use the basic recipe on the back of the Toll House Chocolate Morsels package... but, I do add a dash more vanilla, a sprinkle of nutmeg and I do not use the nuts. Gotta make a recipe your own!
Oh, and if you have any ideas for me or have anything to add... I look forward to your input! :)
*Note- I was never granted the gift of spelling. I made it through grad school just fine with out this gift. Please do not judge me... I am sure you have misspelled something too.
